Cool Swords: Perfect for Cosplay and Theme Parties!

ninja swords

A saber is a blade weapon that traditionally has a long, curved blade with sharpened edges and one or both sides sharpened to form a cutting edge. The historical importance of swords extends all the way to the Bronze Age and beyond.

These weapons are involved in wars, assassinations, duels and self-defense techniques like Karate, fencing, jian dao kenpo and Shuriken Jutsu. They were also used for farming, hunting and trapping since they can easily break branches from many trees with their long blades. The word "sword" is derived from the word "esword".

Another definition is "a strip of metal used as a tool to slice through something. It is also a weapon used to attack and/or defend from an enemy. Many sabers used for self-defense are made from either steel or aluminum. There are approximately three different types of these weapons that were commonly used for battle: Katana, longsword, and shortsword.

1.  Ninja Swords

Ninja swords are famous for cosplay! How do they work? These weapons are used as a part of Japanese dress up. The costume is made with cloth and the saber is often made of cardboard or foam that can be covered in duct tape to make it look like a real one.

Depending on how the costume set is designed, many ninja costumes will add fake blood and wear prosthetics to help complete the look.  There are three kinds of sabers traditionally used by ninjas: katana, tachi, and wakizashi. The katana is the most common ninja saber. The tachi is a long sword similar to the katana but with no hand guard. The wakizashi is a shortsword.

These swords are often constructed using the same process as real ones and are made of the same materials. They will often have an iron blade, covered in steel and folded to strengthen it. During World War II, with the Japanese ban on weapons, people turned to making plastic replicas for cosplay that gave a realistic look and feel of historical weapons.

2.          Anime Sabers

Although they are typically associated with Japanese culture and anime, there is a general misconception that all anime sabers can be used for cosplay. This is not true. Anime sabers that were created for battle or to represent certain characters are typically too expensive to be used in cosplay as well as being illegal to create.

Though some of the less expensive ones can be found on certain websites and stores. Anime sabers are the epitome of entertainment and display. They are intended to be wielded in battle or put on display as a form of art by anyone skilled enough to wield them.

Some of these weapons can be extremely sought-after and are usually made out of either gold or platinum. Of course, every saber is not created equal; nothing lasts forever, and most anime swords aren't actually worth that much in the first place. Unfortunately, you may not know how to pick out an appropriate one for you if you've never done this before.

3.           Fantasy Sabers

If you love swords, chances are you love fantasy ones. However, there may be a piece of information that you're unaware of: fantasy sabers are used in cosplay, including as props for professional cosplayers. You can use these props to interact with your friends and family at your next costume gathering or birthday party.

These are an excellent weapon — they're sharp and decorative and serve as an asset to any person who wields them. These unique weapons create a sense of fear in those around them before they've even had time to swing the saber at someone else — hence their role in cosplay.

Swords for Cosplay are Safe to Use!

It is a commonly held misconception that cosplay swords are not safe to use. It is true that there are many 'cosplay weapons' out there which may be purchased without much thought, but these are in fact not the same as authentic samurai sabers with centuries of crafting and care put into them. Are they safe to use?

Absolutely! As long as you take care when using these types of blades, there should be no problem with your safety. Use them carefully, avoid breaking anything or harming any person and you should be fine! The blade on a cosplay blade will typically have a blunt edge which would prevent serious damage from occurring if it were to come in contact with another object.
